Default SS Headers

I got tired of my headers even when coated getting some rust in the Houston humidity-I know 10-15 years is not bad but had GP headers copy my Hookers since they fit. Even made the bolt holes easier to get to.

I did send pictures of the tight areas and marked on tubes where I had "massaged" to fit also. About a 2-3 week turn around.

I'd like someone to buy a set of those shorty stainless turbo manifolds, I've seen here, and dyno a set in a N.A. application.......

So do they have a jig now to make those headers for anyone? Or they still need something to copy?

My niece's husbands family runs a business that makes SS exhaust headers for aircraft engines. Thats is all they do.
I wonder how hard it would be to have him copy a set of headers if I give him mine to copy and a pair of flanges ? He is very good at what he does.

Unless they tear them apart. Just got them last week . They are just 2" if you need bigger not sure hoe the fit would be. Still need to slide these in the chassis but it clears the oi filter which not all my sets do without heavy massage

That is a nice looking set of headers Skip, maybe you can tell me what these fit?

I bought a set off craigslist yesterday. The guy didn’t know what chassis they fit, he said he thought they were for a Firebird, based on the info that was passed to him, when he acquired them. I think they are for a 1st gen Firebird. He was asking $400. When the price dropped to $250, I drove three hours and bought them. The OD on the primary tubes are 1.875, so that makes them 1.75 ID. I figure they will make a nice street header for my 1969 Firebird when I put it back on the street, in the future. I’ll try them on my Kids 1974 Firebird first, it needs a set of headers. Hopefully they will fit the 1974 or the 1969. Otherwise, that means they fit a GTO?

I’d appreciate your opinion on whether or not they are for a 2nd gen, since you’re a 2nd gen guy.

Those look like the OBX SS that have been around for a few years. I think there are some posts on here about fit. They could be a decent starting point and change a couple of tubes for fit if needed.

i bought a set off ebay when a member was telling us all about them, i think they were sold as fitting a bodies, which would make it tough to squeeze in your f body. Really good quality, stainless, but the bolt holes will need some massaging. hardware is junk it has metric heads and standard threads. I couldnt get them to fit my 64 but it was because of my mid plate and engine set back about 2'' more than anything else. I think i paid alot less than 250 for them tbh.
long story short, if you can fit to the heads out of the car so you're not doing it upside down and cursing this idea. lol

I can tell you Hedman's 1 3/4 headers that are supposed to fit early GTOs and second gens do not fit second gens!! The back tube on both side hit my firewall but fit their jig -"you moved the engine back". I cut them up as I needed smaller headers for the RAIV 400 and redid 2 tubes.

When they say fit multiple chassis they usually have bad fit on both.

I think I tried to slide up up for grins when I was installing the Hookers on the IA Camaro and they were a no go. But again change a tube or to and might nt fit bad.

The guy I bought them from said he would take them back if they did not fit, so that’s what I did. Thanks for the input everyone, I guess I learned a lesson. They did seem to be well built, and were heavy. When I googled the PN on the box they came in as fitting both GTO.’s and Firebirds, both generations. I don’t think that is possible. The hardware was standard threads with a 10MM head on the bolts, and you can get them new on amazon for about $180.

https://www.amazon.com/DNA-Motoring-.../dp/B01F8EED96

Thanks again everyone.
