I noticed no factory tach/gauges again. Seems like it's rare for Formulas to have the factory tach/gauges option, especially on Ram Air III cars that are already rare.

So in '70 the 15" tires options for $146.39 meant it came with JW's, correct?
Very nicely optioned car and such a great color too!!
Spoiler was not available in '70 with the Formula.

No kidding.
The atoll car has just about the holy grail (from my perspective) of options for a '70 Formula:
* RAIII - M21 - 3.73 posi (funny that the seller called it an M20 car in his CL ad)
* JW wheels (sorry to see they appear to be gone now)
* Gauges w/ tach
* Formula wheel
... and some other stuff I find cool like no console and recessed wipers

I have been watching these cars for seemingly ever, and this is only the second RAIII/M21 car that came from the factory with JW's I've ever seen.

The gold car is not numbers matching the motor for that car, It is a 70 WS with number 12 ram air heads . It was made 26 of February car made in March the 4 speed trans is correct numbers matching for the car. Sorry for the confusion.

I was recently corrected (sometimes the memory gets fuzzy);
Yes.
This is the only way that 15" tires could be had;
15" tires were only available on the Formula or Trans Am in 1970;
In both instances they required a combination of 15" Ralley II's, with white letter tires;
In the Trans Am, they were std equipment, in the Formula they were an option.

That is definately an enviable car.
Two L74 + M21(3.73) cars!!!

it was an off, then on again option for the first couple years;
In 1970 it was not available on any model other than the TA.

Three notable options that appeared for the '71 model year are:
- rear spoiler first available on non-TA
- rear seat console
- rear bumperettes

I heard it speculated in the past that many buyers expected the gauges to come standard on the Formula - which is why so many cars came without them.

'Pontiac Rodder', you are one VERY lucky guy!!
Congrats on the purchases!

Just wondering why?

Rear console?
Rear bumper guards?

Really I would think..

Trans am suspension
15 honeys

Would be notable in 71...

they are both such special cars, but if you need to pick one to restore and one to sell, then keeping the Atoll Blue car with the M-21 and 3.73's is the way I'd go too. That color with a set of nicely restored JW's with no trim rings and it's other options will be about as good as it gets in the Formula world!

That is a pretty neat car. I have never seen a Formula with 15" wheels. I have seen several early Formulas with manual disc brakes, including the Lucy Blue 70 Formula I sold a few years ago. It had 14" poverty caps.

If you decide to restore it, let me know. I have a very rough 70 T/A automatic with all matching numbers drivetrain, but the body is extremely rough. I stripped it many years ago, and it has a late set of JWs in very nice shape.
