68 GTO power antenna
Hi, Are the power antennas different from 66-69? How can you tell the difference? Thanks!

Yes, but I think the differences are subtle. Here are a couple shots from the Restoration Guide with some explanation.

Here are a few pics of my 68 convert pwr antenna. Mounting flange and bezel is at different angle on convertibles than hardtop for 68-69, but I think that’s the only difference.

As seen in the picture in the first response to the thread the 68-69 antenna bodies are shorter than the first gen ones. Because the lower bracket has no set position you can make any A body antenna work in a 68-69.
Note that the B body antennas have much longer body and can’t fit in an A body and inversely the rare 69 fbird Power antenna Is much too short. My GTO ragtop has its original convertible unit and my LeMans ragtop has a 69 coupe unit. As viewed from outside they both look identical but if you look inside the convertible one has the motor cocked 90 degrees differently and so the coupe one doesn’t have the upper adaptor sit quite flush against the inside contour of the quarter panel but this doesn’t matter once installed.

I believe the convertible unit installs 90 degrees more clockwise as viewed from above.

I was told it was a 66 model and was hoping to use it in my 68. Thanks
