Default Found this in my oil pan

Can anyone help me identify this part? It's approximately 3/16" in diameter. Looks like a dowel of some type.

I recently screwed up adjusting my valves, a lash cap fell off, and messed up a pushrod. Related to this?

I pulled the pan to inspect the oil pump because my oil pressure was 45 psi cold, 10 psi hot at idle. When hot, I rev the engine the oil pressure would rise to 60 psi. Related to this?

Some late model 400's used hollow dowels to line main caps up.

Oil pressure deal sounds like a stuck relief ball in the oil pump.

You guys really think a 3/8ths" bolt will go through that 3/16" O.D. dowel?

Sure enough, there were 3 small pieces of Right Stuff in there with the oil pump relief ball.

That looks like it could be the cage from a rocker arm needle bearing.

I just found it. It's a broken roller from the timing chain.

When the pushrod was damaged, I didn't notice the tip of the pushrod came off. The pushrod tip found its way to the timing chain, broke a roller, and wedged itself into the timing chain.

Well the good thing is it's too big to have gone thru the pump and screwed up the bearings and you found the source of your low oil pressure, so things are not anywhere near as bad as they could be!

Man, you dodged a bullet with that one. That could have been bad! Good thing the oil pressure dropped in this case.

Updated for Pushrod tip wedgie photo-info. Capt. Obvious says
"No business even idling the engine. Timing Cover comes off for Chain R&R."

Too bad for having to break TQ on the Balancer, and break coolant.
From this armchair view; Low Oil Pressure seems a unrelated concern.

If I hadn't list oil pressure, I never would have found this. The damaged pushrods happened two weeks and 10 passes ago.

I really like one piece pushrods. They are more expensive but I believe the extra cost is justified.

Right Stuff to the rescue, and I really mean it this time. That good for nothing sealer may have actually saved your engine. A once in a million chance. I would be buying a lottery ticket!!

What do you think happened to the pushrods?
