Is POR15 the best thing to paint the underside of your old wheel wells?

POR-15 will really only stick to rusted metal or etched bare metal. If there is any paint in the wheelwells don't use it.

I would use it to coat any rusted areas, then use some rubberized undercoating.

Let's go racing!

1990: I used Epoxy paint (black semi-gloss), spraygunned, and the wheelwells still look excellent. no surfacerust, no delaminations or cracks.

68GTO project will get Epoxy paint, spray gunned, on the firewall, wheelwells, frame, bumper brackets, small stamped metal parts.

I used a 3M rubberized undercoating inside my wheel wells to fill in the areas that broke off when I removed them. The stuff came in a spray can and had a nossle like WD40. Worked great, builds up fast and clean, can't tell the wells were ever unbolted.

the undercoating REALLY threw me off.

I imagined the work& results I did on the Fornt fender wells...no undercoat gravel finish. Just semi-gloss black..still smooth and excellent after 12years of street drive.

I scraped-off some of the factory rear wheelwell factory gravelcoat, then sprayed cheap primer and paint..still excellent after 12years.

So, up to speed now. I see what you mean, and concur. Geez type is easily mis-interpretable.

I just replaced both the inner and outter wheel housings. What is correct? I was going to undercaot but seems to be frowned apon. The inner is bare metal and the outter has the black coating on it.
