Greetings!
Sorry to bother you but I failed to find the response so far, so I'm reaching to you. I buy not long ago a Pontiac Firebird Trans AM of 1978 (the engine is a Pontiac 400) I had to do the head gasket and so replace the exhaust manifold gasket of course. I also replace the bolts that was there by exactly the same: - Diameter: 3/8 Thread: UNC Size: 1"1/2 Quantity: 12 https://www.transfixations.fr/fr/vis...tre-3_8_9525mm - Diameter: 3/8 Thread: UNC Size: 1"3/4 Quantity: 2 https://www.transfixations.fr/fr/vis...tre-3_8_9525mm But I think that those bolts are not the corrects one, they seen to be a bit short and holding only on a few threads... I live in France so I cannot go to the store to test what would fit the best, i would like some help to get the size right, if anyone as the info ![]() Thanks in advance! |

Those bolts in the links you provided are NOT CORRECT.
As well, AMES PERFORMANCE does NOT have the right kit for a 1978 stock exhaust manifold, even though their catalog lists it. I know this from experience, having ordered their kit. The 1978 does NOT have a combination of long and short bolts holding the manifolds to the engine. They are all one length. You are better off ordering this: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/312906392252

My 78 bolts were also hollow.

Hello thx for the replies!
Yes I read somewhere during my recherche that the bolts might be hollow to handle dilatation. On the link shared by @starlightblack I'm not sure if they are hollow or not. But I guess I will for for them (except if someone has a contraindication) |

And hollow ones are easier to break off when rust seized!
