I'm curious as to whether or not there are any differences between the 70 an 71 A-body shells. If so what are they? How would you tell the two apart in the junkyard? Also there are no VIN or cowl tags to help so I'm looking for specifics. Thanks

If its just the shell the two are the same. You may want to find out if there are any parts still there to identify the year (interior panels, seats)

All '71 & '72 A-bodies had the standpipe for EFE system (look behind the rear seat). Only California emission cars (very rare) had the charcoal canister & EFE system for '70 models. This standpipe set-up require body modifications in the steel stampings.
Have sold numerous solid '71-72 LeMans body shells to fellows up north that were clipping their cowls into solid straight body shell. In 2 cases, ended up with "restored" '70 GTO's with standpipe set-up.
