I'm confused and need some help from this great forum. I have a 72 TA and want to know what stock distributor part number is correct. Is it the 1112133 (unitized) or 1112126. Or was there an option on the 72 TA?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I think it can be determined by the block code as to which distributor your car had.The way I understand it, there were two auto codes and two 4spd codes for 72 TA because of the different distributors.Recent HPP gave the breakdown I dont have the issue handy. Will

The unitized ignition was a mandatory option on the Formula with the 455 HO. It was an available option on the Trans Am. If your PHS broadcast sheet does not show the unitized ignition option than you should have the 1112126 distributor. BTW, there is a unitized dist setup on ebay riight now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...528732734&rd=1

Car is matching # except distributor, YE code, Lucy, automatic, built late 71 year. Car is PHS documented, no 634 code on the build sheet. I ran down and purchased a 1112133 (unitized). I suppose I need to run down a 1112126. Sound right?

Steve is correct, YB code '72 455HO/TH400 T/A's were OEM equipped with the 1112133 unitized distributor. This was indeed a required option on Formulas.

"YE" code '72 455HO/TH400 T/A's were OEM equipped with the 1112126 point distibutor. Unfortunately, we're talking "hen's teeth" on that piece.

I bought a nicely reconditioned one from a fellow in Colorado about three years ago for one of my projects, but I have unfortunately lost his information. I believe his first name was Gary, but can't find any other info.

He and Roger (oPh) know each other. Maybe Roger will stop by and offer the information.

Llyod, that was me. The distributor I sold you came out of a '72 four speed TA with an engine code of WD.

Regards, Kevin

If you have an extra 1112126 I could use one too, for my WD coded 72. Thanks, Steve

I have a 72 4spd T/A WD block. The build sheet does not show unitized. I did own a 72 formula 455HO 4spd with WM block which did have unitized.
