Can anyone advise me on outer wheelhousings on a 65 GTO hardtop?

I ordered a set. I got two, but they are totaly different. I called the supplier, they sent me another one, the same as the one I figured was wrong. Three other suppliers show only one design, for both left and right. Is it possible they are supposed to be different? Someone told me it is possible because the left one appears longer and looks as though it may have an indentation where a gas filler tube may be installed on a different model. But could be used on several different models.

Any experience is appreciated.
