your car, your call, i know you've heard that before.
i for one prefer it becuase you just don't see that many of them on older cars these days, many have been removed. makes the car just a little diff then most of the rest....my opinion anyway....probably biased as well |

A second vote for keeping it. Gives the car a unique look.

KEEP THE VINYL TOP.
as long as it solid underneath, you should be alright. my Yellow 455HO has a white vinyl top and it's all original. plus, I feel the value increases by keeping the cars originality. |

I likey the vinyl - my son has a Johnny Lightning 73 SD Formula with vinyl top - best looking bird in his collection!
Also, it's a large piece of surface area that you won't have to block to perfection prior to painting!

I agree with everyone, keep the vinyl top.

My 70 Formula's top is on the chopping block too... I don't care for the look either, and mine is totally gone from years of CA and AZ sun. I wouldn't think that it would be too difficult of a job to remove, and the body work would be minimal if there isn't any rust repair. Mine has some bubbling/swelling under the back edge near the window. I know mine has to come off to fix this anyway.
