Default Where to apply adhesive on weatherstripping

Some of my weatherstrip is gone and some I have removed. I am not sure where and where not to use adhesive.

Vent window assembly - I found no evidence of adhesive use when I removed everything. Do you use adhesive to install for the vent window rubber or the material for the door window track

Door - Mine is gone and do not see any residue. Seal has pins that insert to door

Trunk - I have not removed yet. Do you use adhesive all the way around or just at the joint where the ends meet.

My 64 vent window seals clipped in with clips provided by steele (formed part of the seal) door is all push in pins, trunk was pressure fit in the cavity.
