There is a guy who does rebuild them in the states. Should be a Gold cad finish which does wear as it ages. Most were plated zinc under the Cadnium looking topping.
There are plenty of aftermarket boosters with the Delco Moraine stamp for around 100 USD. Inline tube sells them, Our host Ames has them. How is your "combination" Valve ? Most are pretty rusty. |

It should have that stamp, yes. Some are faded and have a deeper stamp on one side than the other of the words.

not surprising after 48 years of maintenance that parts like that are not original. The plated reproductions are cheap and do the job perfectly.

Steve Gregori at BrakeBoosters.com does all our boosters.

He’s got one. Look at the codes on that booster first.

Assuming you have an original to start with, otherwise you end up with a very nice and expensive 70's aftermarket booster!

Steve G has been trying to sell his booster restoration & plating services business. He was not taking in booster restoration jobs last I heard, but did have numerous boosters he had bought as cores & restored. That stated, still worth dropping him an email.
George, since our '72's are very close in build date, I'll look at the date tab on my T/A's original booster & let you know what the number is.

Steve G does good work... I had him do three boosters for me and was very disappointed. The plating had a very red tint to it. I sent two of them back (third on was going on a driver) and offered to pay him again to redo the plating. He sent them back with a note "please send any future work to a different shop" ..... Kinda thought it was funny coming from a guy that advertised "satisfaction guaranteed".

Many original boosters (code correct) will have pitting on them that replating won't hide. The alternative is to paint them to look like gold cad plating. Eastwood has a kit for this. I would use their silver cad as a base coat under the gold because it looks better.

Never seen a paint that looks like plating, better off with a cheap repro than a poor condition painted original.

I’d like to be surprised by this too. Any examples?
