Mini starter help.........
So, I purchased a Powermaster 9610 mini starter for my 1970 GTO. 400 c.i. 4spd. car. Ram Air lll exhaust manifolds. So far I have been unsuccessful at getting this thing to fit. It's like the top of the starter is too big and will not fit between the manifold and the block. Anyone else using this starter? Is there a better one to use on this car? Any help would be appreciated. I assumed without headers this thing would fall right in.

Yeah, the head on the Summit starters must be rotated about 180 degrees to fit a Pontiac. As it comes out of the box, it hits the block and will not bolt up.
Not sure who makes the Summit starters. But once installed properly, mine cranks my bracket 455 just fine, even when hot. |

Here's an older Powermaster mini starter clocked for Pontiac. This would be looking at it from the front of the engine.
