One of my favorites was a '53 Studebaker with a 421 in it.
It used to terrorize the streets around Menands NY in the '60s

I am currently finishing a chopped Model A coupe with a 400 in it.

How about a '73 455 in an airboat? I sold the motor to my buddy and we put it in several months ago. Airboats are quite popular in S Florida but most guys who use ground pounders (car motors) use SB chevys. Much easier to work on (for me) than aircraft motors and the parts are much less expensive. For car motors you have to use a gear reduction so the prop is more effective out of the hole without running the rpms up too high.

I'll get some pics and post as we'll be gator hunting out of this boat next weekend.

At least I put my Pontiac Engine back in a Pontiac..... an 1988 Safari Wagon, White with woodgrain and a luggage rack, TH400, 2.94 ls diff, and the coup de'grace:

Engine is fresh 400 w/2K miles (approx), and was assembled with all ARP S/S hardware, and ARP rod bolts. Idles at 750-800 in gear with a moderate lope. Exact cam spec's are unkown.

Engine stamping and castings are:

Block: stamped YU on pass front bank, and cast 400 by drivers motor mount.

Heads: 6X, Drivers cast D108, Pass cast D127

Intake: Edelbrock Performer w/Quadrajet

Ignition: Factory HEI

Exhaust: '77-81 T/A or Firebird headers (brand unknown), with true 2 1/2" dual exhaust, and Raptor Turbo mufflers.

This car has power everything, however the A/C and cruise are inop. Wheels are '87 Buick alloy's w/235/75R15 Toyo 800's. Interior is Blue (8 pass).

It originally had the 307 Olds, and a 200R4 trans, but was converted by a previous owner for towing use with a stock 400/400 combo. I installed this engine as the stock one had a burnt valve... Currently equiped with air overloads, receiver hitch, elec brake controller, etc. Have used it to tow the boat, and also play with the local "ricer's". I keep hearing "Wagon's aren't meant to run like that!"

Can't get the pic's to load right now, but it's in the Big Pontiac's for sale, search for 1988 Safari.

Ive seen two 1951 -52 ford pu's with Pontiac engines in them at swap meets about 8 years apart. I have a buddy with a 400 in a 74 Blazer that is his tow rig for his super gas Vega. But the coolest was this 63 vette that used to race a Portland International Raceway once or twice a year. It had a 421 tri-power that had been put in the car in 1964 and ran low 13's. The car was a perfect 1964 Cal Custom hot rod. It was still owned by the orginal owner. Finally about 10 years ago he decided to pull the 421 out, and put original 327 in the car. He wanted to have the car back to orginal due the increased value of an orginal car. I haven't seen him in a long time now though.

Not an engine but heads.
A buddy of mine visited a guy because he wanted to look at some parts he had advertised. Well the parts was ok so they made a deal. And then the guy closed his garage doors and put som old heads in front of the doors to prevent the doors from opening. My buddy looked at the heads and couldnt belive his eyes it was ram 4 heads. He asked the guy if he could get the heads also included in the deal . Sure the guy said ( he hadnt a clue what this heads where for ).

Default pontiac engine oddballs

I had a 400 671 supercharged in a 32 three window chopped channeled etc. Had a 455 in a 83 chevy pickup also had a 421 in a johansen ski boat . Had a 66 2+2 mustang with a 671 supercharged 421 pontiac in it. street driven. fun car. Had a 57 pontiac chieften with a 421 supercharged pontiac in it. ran 15-22 % over on a very low compression motor. 33 mi per gal in 32 coupe. Lot of help in those days by Joe Reath of Reath automotive in Long Beach Calif. Probably all gone now. With overdriven blower they never ran out of power in 1/8 mi street race. Right now I'm building an all glas 65 gto for racing. Saved a lot of parts over the years now my grandson wants to drag race. Oh well I can't take it with me. Most of these cars I built in Calif in the 70"s and early 80"s. At 68 I still get a bang when an early GTO beats a 60's chevy or ford product. Never to old to play. hotchief

Pontiac jack, I'll have to ck but I may have pictures of the supercharged Pontiac in my 32 3window coupe. Most never took pictures of cars were mostly to race the sothern Calif hot dogs on the street. We ran from red light to red light. My pontiacs were deadly for that distance. In 10-2 yrs only lost once To a 41 Willys). Just put a c&o 4 spd hydro in car was Guarenteed not to shift till I shifted it. At light Car went 15-20ft then trans shifted into 4th. went to a big bog lost. One car I wouldn't run was a 61-63 vette with a Blown hemi in it. Nasty car Good old days hotchief

In 1961, I installed a 61 389 tri-power engine with a solid lifter Racer Brown cam into a 16 ft. Century Resorter speedboat. Took the prop and shaft out and mounted a 16 J Berkley Water Jet. It was reputed to be the fastest boat in the Cleveland area--according to the Coast Guard. Quite a ride when most boats had either 6 cylinder or 283 Chris Craft chevy engines.
