71 Chevelle SS convertible 402 4sp
blue w/white strips, white top, black interior bench seat. It was a great car in beautiful shape. Still know where the car is, I'd love to purchase the car but I still like my 67 Lemans convert. better but doesn't have the sentimental value that Chevelle does.

My first car was a 66 Corvair. 4 speed 140 4 carb engine. My Corvair hobby ended with a crown kit. 327 in the back seat. Lowered with widened 15x9 corvette ralleys. It was very fast, Very fun and broke alot of parts!

First car(1974) was a 1964 Dodge Dart slant six with a pushbutton automatic. I inherited it when Mom got a new Impala. my first REAL car was a 1967 Pontiac Lemans...gold with black buckets and console. Stock when I got it...it was beautiful. Drove it all through high school. Gradually added Keystone Klassic wheels, headers, and duals with cherry bomb glasspacks(hey...it's 1975...glasspacks are COOL!) and a GTO hood I found in the same color. Traded it for a big-block '72 Chevelle in college. To this day that's the one car that I've regretted letting get away. BUT...I have found a near exact copy rotting away in a back yard here in town. Owner won't sell...yet. He's "Gonna fix her up one of these days." How many times have you heard THAT one? Gonna keep hounding him though...
Sidenote; Wife's first car was a "70 lemans, green with green buckets and console. She had it when I met her at Burger Chef(Remember those?)in high school. To this day she says that I was more attracted to the car than her at first. NOT TRUE...HONEST! Last edited by TMAC396; 09-23-2005 at 11:13 AM. |

'70 TA
I saw the body profile in an auto trader and it was love at first sight.
Had a fender bender on the way home from the purchase ($1600 in 1980) and totalled it a year later. Didn't faze me though. Have had six (70-73) since and currently own two (71). Absolutely my favorite car ever produced. Last edited by 70-73nut; 09-24-2005 at 07:40 AM. |

My first car was a 1982 Trans Am I fell in love with the 82 becouse of Knight Rider and had to get one. I keep the car for 12 years then I saw a picture of a 1969 Trans Am and knew I had to get one. So I sold the 82 to help pay for the 69 TA.

My first was a '63 Impala convertible, black w/white top and red interior that I transplanted a 396/325 in place of the orginal 283. Exhaust "system" was stock manifolds, 409 headpipes, and 18" glasspacks, period. Wish I had it back...Maybe that's why my Pontiac is a 2+2 and not a GTO. I love B-bodies with muscle.

'66 Tempest
I paid $300 for it the summer before highschool. I didn't have it even a week, when an airman from Malmstrom AFB walked up to me at a gas station and offered me $1000. thet felt pretty good. Ended up driving it for two years, then trading it in on a 72 Chevy pickup.

Wasn't a car or a pontiac,,,,
In 1983 bought my first with several years of saved money, 1976 ford ranchero with 351M/400 engine.
Too fast but didn't handle too well tried to take a 90 degree corner at 60ish and rolled it end over end- totaled it. Happened to be the third day I drove it. OUCH!!!! expensive lesson and crappy way to start my senior year in HS. Got a 1976 Chevy 350 4 brl caprice wagon and totaled that one before the end of the school year, Tough year!!! Replaced those with a 1976 Plymouth gran fury with a 440 police interceptor engine( ex- NYS police cruiser) . Somehow I learned to handle the power and drove it into the ground, sold it for $500 so some guy could drop the 440 into his road runner. Finally got my first Pontiac- 1982 Gran Prix LJ Awesome ride and I loved it. Wish I still had it. Class ride. Used to race one of my fraternity bros to campus he had a 67 tempest with a 326. Tons of fun. Never plan on getting rid of my lemans

I got my first car when I was 17. It was a 1974 Nova four door, with a straight 6. It was a rat of a car, but for $100 what could I expect. It ran pretty good, and after scaping what appeared to be dried snot off the windshield was fairly enjoyable to drive.
The thing I will remember most about that car (other than some dates with a lovely girl named Denese) were the bumper stickers on the beast when I bought it. One said, "This may not be the Mayflower, but your daughter sure came across in it." The other was similar, "Don't laugh, you daughter may be in here." One day it inexplicably died while on the highway, and I left it on the side of the road. It did not matter because several weeks later I was in USAF boot camp. John

First car was a 70 LeMans, lunchlady at my gradeschool had a light green 70 and I always loved her car. Found a different one at a dealership and bought when I was 16 years old for $179, back in 87. I had 251 dollars in my account, and after convincing the salesman that was all I had, 179 was the amount for the car after tax, title and lot fees. Still have the paperwork. Sold it after four years to a guy who bought it for his fiance. Several years after I tracked him down to find the car. They broke up, he parted it and had it crushed. I was depressed for a week.
