my first car was a 1981 malibu 2 door, had a 267 in it, under 100k barely, and from the second owner. I bought it for 400 when i was 15...

had a 267 in it, cam went flat after a couple years of driving it, built up a 350, and blew the 350 in a couple weeks.... then parted it out, had a mint frame body too still depressed about it

1961 Ford Galaxie convertible. Paid $75 for it, had 100K miles, was in decent condition. Put 40K more miles on it with normal maintenance.

first car was a 72 ford station wagon...traded it for a 72 ford montego before i got my license. the montego got snatched away and a woman gave me a 72 ford ltd....i wrecked it...(not entirely my fault) and my friend led me to a 67 326 firebird with a p/g. paid 100. and we rebuilt the carb in the guys yard..i drove it home...sold it later...(stupid me) and bought a 68 lemans with a 428. ended up it had a cracked block..so i bought a 350 horse 400 out of a wrecking yard for $350 and dropped it in...ran strong for years...in back of my moms house i had a big bin i kept blocks heads....pullys...atleast 3 complete engines worth...i moved away for a year..came back...my mom had given all my parts to my friends...then i went to chevys...and jeeps. now im back....

My first car was a 66 Bonneville Brougham. My Dad gave it to me to get me started. He said "I'll give you your first one, after that your on your own." My first new car is the 76 TA I still have. Ordered it in March and took delivery in May. Wish I had the Bonne and my Dad back.

On leave after boot camp in 1980, i was helping my buddy at his car repair business when he asked me, "Hey you want to buy that GTO over there for like $300 bucks? A guy stiffed me on the bill and I have a mechanics lein about to come due on it."

Having been raised in a Mopar family, I was forced to ask, "Jeetee-O? What is that? Who makes it?" (Best 3 bills i ever spent of course!)

Well when I got off of another 18 months active duty and joined the Reserves hear in Phoenix, I had both a car and a job waiting for me with my buddy. As I found out later yes it was a PONTIAC (even tho for some stupid reason it didnt say that anywhere on the car and only the rear, side turn signals even looked like any kind of Pontiac logo.) I also found under the sickening plaid seat covers that it had dark blue interior, a decent coat of what I later discovered was Crystal Blue Turquoise paint, and a very clean white vinyl top.

I drove that car for about 4 years, adding the (at that time very cool) genuine magnesium slotted wheels, bigger tires and putting a quadrajet back on it in place of the badly adjusted holley carb which was causing all the problems originally. It had a TH-400 trans, and I don't know what gears, but definitely a positraction because it laid nice even double black marks at will.

Unfortunately it was quite the gas hog, and since I had bought a newer Olds Cutlass by then (because it had air conditioning!) which got way better mileage, I was easily convinced by the ridiculous gas prices of the time to sell my GTO when someone offered me the unbelievable sum of $2,000 for it. Heck I think it was costing me like over TEN BUCKS to fill up the gas tank on that goat in 1985!!!

Well as we all know the feeling, that was the WORST 2k I ever made. I have yet to see an example of the paint and white top combo in any restored 69's. At that time, vinyl tops were not "cool" so the guy who bought it ripped the top off, painted the entire car "monochromatic" midnight blue, and proceded to terrorize the cops up near NAU in Flagstaff with the car... Right up until he wrapped it around a tree not a month later and totalled the car.

Idiot! (No not him for wrecking it, me for selling it right before the '90s musclecar craze was about to start!)

Default 1964 Rambler Classic

Hello All, My first car was a 1964 Rambler Classic no p/s, p/b, carpet or seat belts(I guess they were an option). It was a four door muppet green machine! Complete with the reverb radio(remember those). My dad paid $500.00 for it and it had 55000 miles on it. After alot of good times in my early years it finally went to the junk yard. I used to see it sitting there when I was picking over other cars, but about 5 maybe 10 years ago they got rid of all the older stuff. I could spend hours walking though an old junkyard! Thanks Brad

Cool My first car was a ....

69 Firebird. It was Red, white interior, manual 3 speed in the floor, with a OHC 6 cylinder. I was 17 back in 1975. Bought the car for $800. It was one of the coolest cars I ever owned. Even compared to my brothers cars....70 Cuda, 69 Mach I SCJ...It still got a lot of looks.
I envy those who have pics of their first cars. I not only got rid of my first car after about 2 years, I never even took any pictures . And my wife wonders why I won't sell any of the Pontiacs I have. I guess we learn as we get older. LOL.

My first car was my 71 lemans. I still have it since I was fortunate enough to work at an auto parts store which brought many older motor heads past my counter admiring my car and lamenting how they wish they never got rid of their first cars. It scared me straight when I almost traded it straight up for a 69 bondo bucket Judge with nothing past the manifolds back in '86. My buddy's mom was pissed when we rolled into his driveway with it screaming open headers! My mom actually suggested a loan so I could have both. (that's out of character for her...I'll have to ask her about that one....) As to the 71 Lemans, I was 3 yrs old when Gramma bought it new off the lot in 71. She wanted a blue pontiac like her old 66 Tempest and hated the GTO front end so ended up with the stock Lemans parked next to it (so close....why gramma, WHY!?!?). My Grandfather smacked the front right side front clip in '75 and didn't like the trade in deal so they parked it for me. I used to start it up with them every weekend and learned how to back it in and out of the garage. Finally got to driving age and I spent 3 DAYS removing the front bumper. -- Did you know you can take a 71 front bumper off withOUT removing the valence panel? Did I mention it took 3 days and I had NO idea what the hell I was doing! I tossed the protect-o-plate, lost the original cancelled check for the car, and away it went with a jigsaw to cut the dash for the super tuner Pioneer deck, door speakers, headers and I beat that car into the ground (why are we so stupid when we're young punks?) Two restos later, it's back to stock (except for all the factory options I've added) Still haven't gotten around to getting the A/C working. Next comes the Judge, June makes 20 yrs it's been parked.....too many projects in between, luckily they're not around anymore to tempt me.

First car was a white 84 firebird with a 350, auto, and true dual exhaust. I had alot of memories in that car like the time I got her up to 140mph... Anyway I sold it to buy my 75 Trans Am. The guy who bought it dented it all up and now it's all rusty-and he put a big decal of a shark on the hood!? Since then I have also aquired a 66 LeMans and a 97 Formula but I still wish that I had that 84.....

My first car was a 1973 Trans Am, bought in 1981 while in High School, I won the unofficial smoke show/last day of school contest with just a bit of bleach.

Still have the car, needs restored, modified of course. Go figure.

By the way, took my dad to look at the car I was buying with my own money. Pop said "no way" (minor rod knock at cold start) but it was too much for me to resist. I went back and bought it the next day by myself.

Spun a big end bearing about 6 months later so there was the excuse to pump it up. Black with fakey SD 455 decals on the shaker. Way to many memories to ever sell this car.

My first car was a 74 455 Trans Am. I bought it little more than a year ago from a junk yard for 400 bucks!. Buccaneer red, deluxe white interior. Ended up spending the whole summer blocking, and sanding on it. Huge project but finally got it finished, and had the nicest car at school. The only 74 TA around here, and well known by everyone.
