Default seats

Both seats have recliners, out of another GP (as was power bottom) but they were both factory recline, had to modify my upper seat cover for the drivers side as the original was ratty, but the passenger one was fine and the same color to boot.

Arrow Rarely Optioned low mile '80 LJ

This listing has some good photos of a leather interior with Viscount bucket seats.
Also the rarely seen Pontiac wire wheels.

That 80 with the leather and wire wheels went for a decent price. I seriously considered bidding on it...being it sits in my home town!!!! But I've got enough on my plate. I thought it was unusual for someone who ORDERED this car for big bucks (the leather and wheels were expensive) to not include power windows...but oh well. One thing that makes me wonder.....why would someone put '78 lower grilles on a very low mileage '80??? I suspect the seats were reupholstered...27 years on leather...they should have at least SOME cracking. The seller confirmed it was repainted...and nicely.

Here's a pic of mine after spraying it off...it's just sitting right now with the motor out of the car. Been under a tarp while I've been in school and the bumper fillers have dried and begun to crack and break. But still is a very clean and rust free car other than the bottom light rust at the bottom inside of the door. Fresh 350 on the engine stand (no not a chevy). Oh yeah, sorry about the crappy cell phone pic too!

No such thing as a crappy pic of a 78-80 GP.

Those are factory wires? The rears look deeper.

I know I'm a minority around here, but I think the landau roof "makes" these early years.

Yeah those are factory wires, I just don't have the caps on the centers. I'm redoing the interior with some updated seats maybe from a newer grand prix. I've seen it done although the front seat look kind of wide. Also thinking about selling the 350 and building a BIG motor. But I've heard horror stories about t-top cars and too much torque.

The horror stories usually are about Fbody cars, which are unibody. The roof is a major structural part of a unibody car. Your Gbody is a full framed car & this shouldn't be as much of a concern. Unless you are building a Duramax for it or something that makes 800 or more ft-lbs. A 500 ft lb motor will be fine.

Default 1979 4 Speed Car Located!

I have found a 79 301 4 bbl 4 speed standard posi rear car. Waiting for pics of it. Running car, sounds like it is rusty. Going to leave this one stock if I get it. Has a factory sun roof supposedly and not much else for options. Trading for a Chev 350 and TH350 trans. Less than 200 made and this is the second I have found. Also, another guy in the same town has a 69 GTO 4 speed with RA and folding lights. Haven't seen it either, but going to give it a try to buy.

Cool. Keep us updated on the '79 4-speed. If you get pics before you get it, please post them here. Is it local, or something you found on the internet?

If you do get it, start a new thread. This one is getting off track. Thnx.

Personally I'd rather have the soft velour rather than the hot sticky vinyl.

i figured i would post in this topic. what color should i paint my 79 grand prix??? will be street driven, but mainly just raced. should go some mid 10's n/a. i will have a custom 6" cowl hood made for it as well.

i was thinkin either a black cherry, a dull but shiney silver/gray, or a shiney silver. but i am open to all other suggestions. also, no stripes or graphics. thanks, joe
