You need to talk to Jim Zeek's brother...he's the one that hasn't fallen and hit his head yet like the rest of us. Or is he the one that hit his melon and the rest of us are ok?

I don't have enough money to go out and buy what I want like some of you. Yeah, I've seen you at the drags with your semi's haulin huge trailers with 2 drag cars painted the same color as the semi. I have to work with what I got. I have a chev big block 402 and a new on the pallet TCI TH400. I would like to know if the th400 is going to bolt up perfectly in the 73 formula. I don't want to get stock camaro mounts, I want aftermarket SOLID mounts like what Moroso makes. They skipped the 73 for some reason. Which motor mounts do I use and will they be a bolt in job also? I have 2 days of garage time and today's the 2nd day. I'm using the shop to just get the motor in, I'll do the rest in my gravel driveway. I appreciate anyone who has the knowledge to help. Thank you in advance.

You want to use moroso solid motor mounts for a 72 camaro (the last year big block was available). As far as the trans your trans cross member will work as long as it is for a th400. As that cross member is different from the th350/4speed. Solid motor mounts are a good choice but i would suggest against the solid trans mount. go with a poly trans mount you need to allow a little movement or you will crack your trans case. If you do not have the crossmember for a th400 you can move your 350 crossmember back and bolt it to your 400. Once it is bolted to the trans you can square it up to the subframe and drill new holes. That is what i did with mine i laid everything out and drilled a .406 hole thru both rails of the frame on each side. I then opened the hole on the bottom to allow the head of the bolt thru just like the original mount location. Hope that helps

OK, Now were talking valuable information here. It was suggested to me by Jeg's that I use solid motor mounts and transmission mounts since I'm pushing 500 hp to start with. They said that if I use rubber mounts, it will let the motor and tranny shift around and cause cracks in the tranny or other parts? What do you think?

OK, Now I called Jeg's back and they said the same thing again about solid mounts all the way around. I told them I'm gettin a different story from the Pontiac Forums. He put me on hold and talked to his senior advisor and got back on the phone and changed his story to exactly what you're saying. I appreciate this info from people who actually have done it. I may have more questions in the future, Well, I guarantee I'll have more questions. Thank you again.

Moderators, this thread should be moved to the "non-Pontiac motors in Pontiacs" heading!

If you wanna buy me a 500 horse Pontiac engine with a tranny to back it up, I'll gladly go with a Pontiac drivetrain. Come on, put your money where your mouth is? No excuses, come on.....pay for it.
