I'm assuming you put high pressure cool water into the heads at the centre exhaust valve area via a tube and fitting?
I like the dry decking myself, no chance of water in the cylinders. Reverse cooling, well,it makes sense, cool water to the hot heads first, warmed water onwards to the cylinders. Much better for detonation resistance too, cooler heads. But each to their own. |

Dragncar, yes I think there would be a benefit, LS engines are reverse cooled, one of the reasons they could run a higher compression on pump fuel.

Has anybody else noticed the oil between the layers of a cometic gasket upon disassembly that hasn't been sprayed with cooper coat ? I think it probably migrates from heads following hd studs .

Water pressure in my dry deck/reverse cooled combo is controlled by using smaller diameter outlets at the block exits in the traditional manner. 55gpm electric pump. I've never seen a need to monitor water pressure via my Innovate (much cheaper than your Racepak) datalogger. Of course I just have a little 420 with factory heads and block, yours is much bigger. You can't get cooler water to the heads than using it directly from the radiator, before it gets heated by the cylinders. Unless you pump it from a cold water tank. Internal water pressure may be an issue in your combo due to local hotspots, I don't know. Have you ever used a dry deck/reverse cooled setup on your combo? Mike, I had the oil migration on my solid copper head gaskets because I didn't spray them with a sealer, lesson learnt. |
