Forgot about that filler neck... Is the space under the trunk floor occupied with anything on the "American" version? Is there anything to stop the Holden or similar tank from going back where it belongs with just bolt-in parts?
As long as you are offering parts liaison, are the front side marker lights a bolt-in after the "GTO" tags come off the front fenders? I may hit you up for a set of those. Thanks!

I was actually wondering my self why the hell the gas tank is in my trunk??? Anyone know why they did this??? Also KBB says that there are no crash tests planned for this car. I dont see how that is possible? Anyone seen the results?

The Pinto was unusual in how it deformed in a hit from the rear. If I remember right, the tank would snag on some sharp bolt on the differential and tear open, then continue downward to drag the ground, causing a spark and subsequent barbeque. Ford put a skid plate on it and solved the fire issue. Anyway, can you think of ANY classic American car that has the fuel tank mounted anywhere EXCEPT under the trunk floor? With several hundred millon cars on the road since the begining of time like this, why is it dangerous all of the sudden?
I'm just thinking that it would be nice to have enough room to carry more than a bottle of Old Harper, some ball point pens, and and a porno magazine (Simpsons reference ).

Ont the Pinto and Nissan Sunny, the top of the tank was the floor of the rear compartment. The filler sheared off and metal tank deformed and split or vented in rear-enders spraying the interior with fuel.
On the Holden and Pontiac the tank is deformable plastic and with anti-surge baffling and mounted under the trunk, with steel between it. A Monaro caught fire late last year. Two drunk guys borrowed a mates' car and reversed it into a pole after losing control on a wet road at ~ 100mph.
The car did catch alight, but it was by then in two big bits, and the driver and passenger escaped with minor injuries....
There is no real history of Holdens exploding in flames, unless the car is totally destroyed.

The likely driver for the tank relocation is public peception. Remember the GM truck with the "side saddle" tanks? Was it CBS and Dan Rather(biased) "creating" another story by staging a crash where the truck blew up? Seems to me it took several tries and ultimately required a tank full to the top of the neck, a loose gas cap, and a model rocket engine to get it to burn. After that one story, all the millions of GM trucks are deathtraps.
