Bought a used 2015 Kia Sorento SX AWD last April with 80,000 Kms on it. Have put 12,000 Kms on since. 3.3 290hp Excellent car, very solid no squeaks or rattles. Only issue so far is had to replace bu camera $135 and did it myself. Dealer records didn’t indicate any problems before I purchased. My brother had a Kia Rio over 300,000 km with normal maintenance.

My wife has a 2017 Hyundai Sante Fe;absolute love it.

Plenty of power and decent mileage.

We are big fans of the heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel.

She had a few warranty issues;one of the backup cameras failed, driver side seat ripped, and the clear on two of the wheels was starting to peel.

They took care of everything without a fight, and she got a loaner without asking.

We would buy another without a problem.

Good luck with the search. I just spent a lot of hours over the last 2 weeks doing the same. Had to replace our 2013 Audi Q5 3.0T that was rear-ended and totaled just before Christmas. Loved that vehicle but since my wife drove it 80% of the time and really wasn’t into or appreciated the performance, decided to go with something else. I definitely wanted a V6 with AWD. Ended up with a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD Ltd Ult with 39k miles which we picked up yesterday. It was our top choice after test driving quite a few SUVs: Kia Sorento SX, Acura RDX, Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mazda CX-5. I found all the internet websites: CarGurus, Truecar, KelleyBB, carfax.com, Carvana, vroom, etc. helpful in the search after you decide on one or two make/models.

While you're comparing, also compare used monthly cost vs. new monthly cost. When it comes to the Hyundai/Kia, new may not be so out of reach and in some cases, new can cost less per month than used.

Another thing, when looking at used take a good look at the tire's sidewalls as well as the brake pads and rotors. 95% of 25,000 - 35,000 mile vehicles on dealer lots will have 100% of their original parts and at that mileage interval is when tire sidewalls crack, brake pads are past 1/2 wore and rotors are rotted (if in those parts of the country). Those items today are not cheap and add to the cost of that used vehicle. That added cost would get you that much closer to buying new.

One last thing to consider when buying used vs. new is that "factory" warranty. Some manufacturers cut the warranty duration time once the vehicle becomes "used". For example, Hyundai/Kia has a 10yr./100,000mi. new car warranty. Once that vehicle is sold used to a 2nd owner, the warranty drops to a 5yr./60,000mi.warranty. Still good, but not what a new vehicle would come with. That should also be considered in your used vs. new monthly cost factor.

X2. Do them all of the time. On a lot of Hondas of that vintage.

I don’t like it, but my wife loves her 2018 Subaru and it’s done well in the snow on steep rural roads. I wouldn’t rule out a RAV4, either.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2.0 Turbo . It has 92,000 miles on it and has been great. Only thing that sucks about is the plastic breaks around the power seat switch. Ever since GM killed Pontiac I've had 2 Santa Fe, my decision to buy one is that I worked for Enterprise Car rental and I like the way they drove.
