My front fender
Louvers all all chrome.. It that correct? I've seen replacements that have black paint on them? Pictures would be great, if they are supposed to be painted.

No - they should be chrome and body color. Also same as 65 Lemans louvers (I have one of each - both original paint).

What area is painted? Is the inner area that faces forward painted?

it's just the bottom/raised portion of the front that is left chrome -the main/curved part of the front is painted.

My new 65 2+2 was delivered from the factory in March of 1965, the louvers were polished stainless steel.

My 2+2 Is pretty original. Mine aren't painted. That's why we post these things. Half the fun of these cars for me is restoring back to factory standards

That's correct, the lovers came from the factory unpainted. Happy New Year.

At cars shows, I remember seeing LaMans Louvers painted black. Happy New Year to All on PY

These are correct. Only the edges were polished. Same as the 65 Lemans. I've owned both original paint cars.

I cant tell you how many original paint cars I parted out back in the 80's and every one of them that had louvers / grills whatever you call them, were body color with just the edges polished.

Chromed Pot Metal. Called the 2+2 Registry. 65 2+2 Louvers came painted body color. After looking at all of the pictures and Old Pontiac ads. That's what I've found to be true.
