1965 Bonneville steering gear box shimed to frame ?
I just assembled my steering gear box back in the car. Now I saw I have three shims still in my steering gear box parts tub and I Renner they falling off as I dissembled the steering gear box a few weeks ago.
So I sure these shins are located between gear box and frame. I didn’t have any pics from the steering gear box before in the car .. my 65 Pontiac manual book says that there re sometimes these shims factory equipped. They’re eating the steering gear box noise to driver . Is this possible? Thx Here’s a pic of the shims And they definitely not from cast / camber upper control arm .. but looking same

In 50 years of wrenching, I've never seen that done before...

After looking and looking I removed the 3 shims from steering gear box housing / frame ..
as I dissembled it first time these 3 shims fallen from the gear box .. so I thought it was shimed ... but now I think somebody tried to work at the control arms ( the lower control arm joints were replaced) and these 3 shims fallen between gear box and frame ... that could be the answer
