Watching the Barrett-Jackson auction on the Velocity channel tonight and saw a couple nice Pontiacs - a 1969 GTO Judge sold for $150k, and a 1960 Bonneville convertible for $40k. A silver 1966 GTO just sold for $40k as well.

Couldn't figure out the high dollars on the Judge either. As soon as I saw the Buick/Pontiac 400-4 sticker on the air cleaner made me wonder how serious a restoration it was.

2 guys wanted it....a friend said it was a very nice car except for the buick sticker.....the car was offered at 65K not long ago and deemed too expensive

I’m at the auction- there are some really nice cars here and seems to be strong $$$. More people than normal in the crowds

A 1974 SD455 Trans Am sold for $53k which I thought was pretty low. Auto, Buccaneer Red.

So what happen with the Judge now it shows it sold for a $100,000 not 150,000 am I missing something?

Hmm...I was sure I saw $150k as the SOLD price on the TV. I could be wrong, but then again maybe there was some change in the sale (or there were more than one Judge that went through the auction.) I thought $150k was a high number, but $100k is still pretty healthy.

Anyone else see the 66 black GTO with ugly wheels? Added tripower, color change, wrong engine color and it still brought big $$$. IMO

A white 1974 SD-455 sold for $51,000. It looked like a nice one, too. SD's seem to be soft this year.

1970 Judge sold for $82,000.

Have attended Mecum Kissimmee auction for about 8 years now. I and a few Pontiac friends are always amazed that prices seem to continue to go up. My theory is as long as there is "easy money" i.e. low interest rates, quanatative easing, and booming stock market money will flow like water. The quality of top restorations has not really progressed like it did back in the day. Today's top restored cars have reached the pinnacle. Even the average cars look better than the average cars 5 years ago.

One thing that has not changed is the number of high dollar cars that are not correct restorations. Seems as long as it is restored over the top buyers don't care if it has parts from several years or incorrect parts. Easy things that can be fixed like wrong cowl inserts on 69 cars. Wrong center caps on Rally II wheels, wrong alternator brackets, missing washer bottles, etc. All of these were seen on Judges and RA IV cars. It is kind of frustrating to see these cars go for the same money as a correctly restored car. Also rest mods can bring more money than a similar quality correct restoration.

I remember well how prices of our cars soared back in 2006-2007 . Housing was great, jobs plentiful, stock market climbing, ect. Then **** hit the fan. I think history will repeat itself by October this year.
