Default 1972 Trans Am carpet seam location

Does anyone have a picture of where the carpet seam is located? I seem to remember it is on the same line as the front seat bolts or just a little behind and flaps over the seat track lower mounting arms

It's my unrestored 73 but I believe it's the same setup as 72.

See if this helps as well. Steve’s picture nails it. I’m replacing the carpet in the Black Car because it was one of the 3 points of deductions at MCACN. It’s pretty hard to blow apart a 997 point car, but....

Thanks Steve and Bob. Perfect. I just needed to be sure how the placement was to check my purchased carpet. Seems my ACC carpet has the heal pad or the trim seam in the wrong location. Putting the trim seam just behind the front bolt holes make the heel pad to far rearward. I may have a problem.
Thanks

Just finished putting the rear carpet section in and the seats and hard plastic. It was easier than I thought, however, my wife has a near commercial steamer and without it I am not sure how you could really do a first class job. I steamed the carpet last weekend and left it hanging for a week to get the wrinkles relaxed. I also used it extensively today to get it form fitted to the floor pan and door sills. If you have any questions feel free to send a text to 304.859.7509 and I’ll give you a call. Here’s a link to the steamer. Good luck.

I am putting in my 70 carpet and had issues with the front piece as well.
In order to put the heel pad in the correct location, I had to cut off 4” from the top (closest to the firewall), and 4” on the bottom (the end with the seam).

Luckily I had some left over vinyl from my seats, so I went to the local upholstery shop and they sewed a new seam on my carpet. They did a great job.

It is crazy how wrong the carpet was!!!

There does seem to be less than precise placement. I measured my old and new carpets, both of which were replacements, and the old measured 11” from heel pad to the serged edge while the new ACC was 10.5”.
