Default Poll: Stick or Auto?

Which transmission type is in your street Pontiac?

If you own multiple cars, which trans type is in your favorite street Pontiac?

Only two choices here:

1) Stick

2) Auto

X2 on the stick for street, auto for strip. Would go with auto for street/strip, IF you really wanna do any competitive bracket racing.

Auto in both. Auto seems more consistent at track

My 65 GTO has an auto.
My 78 TA has a 4-speed.
I can't vote both ways.

Auto for me. Besides, I can't physically drive a manual transmission (or ride a bike) because my legs (knees) are fixed straight.

I like the stick shift but when I got the car it has a TH350 soon to be a 700R4. My car may see the track once or twice while I own it but it will be a street car. I don't see the benefit to convert over to a stick.

I prefer a stick, but drive an auto due to health problems with my feet and legs.

Autogear M22W 4 speed.

If I lived near a track it would be an automatic.

At the strip, a manual trans + line lock is just too much going on to be humanly consistent in serious bracket racing. For street driving, and hanging some bends, I'll take a manual over an auto, just so much more driver feel and control. For casual timed runs at the strip, I don't have a preference.

When I can't drive my manual any more, my son can take me for rides.... in what will then be his car. ( he just got his junior driving permit)

My 1976 Formula has a Borg Warner Super T10.

Definitely stick on the street for the fun and challenge. The 4-speed was put up on the garage shelf all the time I was flogging it at the drags, and only went back in when the car was retired to pure street duty.

For me, a vintage performance car, demands a stick.

Even my wife, when we were looking for her toy car (the '72 Camaro), insisted on a stick.

For me it has to be a stick, way more fun. My strip only car had a Jerico 4 speed, just as consistent as an automatic, as long as you hit your shift points. If they weren't, pro stock wouldn't use them.

Stick=fun

Auto=faster, more consistant

I have a stick in may car for now, but it is a handful with the amount of power the car has. Fun as hell!

Stick for the street AND the track is what I prefer. Even my wife prefers it that way, her daily is a stick car. We are a little more old school than most.

On the street, I would like to have my 3spd stick back in. Something about a stick in a big car is kinda cool. For bracket racing, you need to be a lot better driver than I am to compete with a stick, which is why I installed the TH400!
