Default First Time Out This Year

We went out to Tucson Dragway last night for a couple of TNT passes at the Tucson Dragway Reunion. This was my first time out since puking a couple of quarts of automatic transmission fluid on the starting line at Wildhorse Pass in Phoenix last December.

I ran 7.931 @ 173.45 & 7.943 @ 172.61. My first pass was at 6:29PM. When I checked density altitude at 5PM, it was 6,555'. Damn! If I ever get to run at one of those east coast downhill mine-shaft air tracks, it would probably scare me.

I didn't stick around for the race today. I didn't have a class to race in. Anyway, it was good to make a couple of passes again. The car went straight and felt good, even with the lazy 1.21 60-foot times.

Next up over the next few months: seat belt re-certs, chassis re-cert, new window net & blower restraint re-certs. Gotta love the NHRA.

Oh, GTO George, the boost was 12#.

Jim

Awesome
Jim would loved to see the tempest run in December-January when we had the D/A down in the double digits

Hey Jim. Keith and I were there Saturday, all day until end of cacklefest. We were hoping to see you there. I didn't get to the computer until today (Sunday) so I didn't know you had been there Friday night. Very UNHAPPY that we missed you--LOL. Say Hi to Ellen for us please.

My anger management skills got a real test that day in Phoenix. Brand new tranny rebuild & re-cert and perfect weather to lay down my quickest pass. I'm looking forward this year to Great Bend, KS in September and Phoenix Pontiac Heaven in November. Before then, if the temps drop below 100 degrees in Tucson some time when were there this summer, I'll try overdriving the blower by 10%.

Jim

Sorry we missed you Friday night. Did the wind and dust blow you away Saturday?

Ellen says "Hi" back.

The wind was crazy. I got home and went to scratch my ear and an acre of dirt and sand fell out, LOL. Although it made the lower 90's much more bearable. The overall show was lacking. The cackle fest was good. It seemed the Altereds could not get any decent runs. But the run off/finals was good.

Drag that Junk to Norwalk.........and Ill show you what 11.5 LBS of boost will do!
Just kidding, your car is FLYING (nice MPH) people don't understand what an accomplishment it is running 7's with ONLY 12 lbs of boost........my gosh the HP alone to turn the blower is almost half of what the Blower is making! Geez its almost like running only a 150 shot of nitrous!

GTO George
