Default Randy Coms turned bezel

Anyone have their dash bezel done by Randy Combs at Trans Am dash bezels in the last few months? If so what was his lead time to get it done once he has it? How was his communication?
Thanks...

Read where Randy was real backed up. Have two early bezels ready to ship to him for refinishing, plan on emailing next month.

Not great, he has had my 50TH Anniversary gold TA bezel since August or September. I've made repeated attempts to contact him for status but replies are spotty and vague , at best. "Getting it done", "Almost there" etc.

I am only replying because of this /\ /\

I have seen these restored ones on facebook and a couple places, from what i hear, they are absolutely top-notch;
He takes them apart, replicates the procedure that was originally used, refurbishes everything, then re-assembles them - so you're essentially getting a brand new part... that used to be on your car

what ever you do, please don't buy those garbage overlays... IMHO they look terrible - I'd only go that route if you were looking for a stop-gap measure, and even then, I'd only use it to cover up a 1977-1981 woodgrain dash insert

What is the cost of the restoration?

I cannot see where you will get a better job done, especially for the low cost.
The one he did for me is excellent, really makes the gauges shine. I can easily see why he is backed up

unruhjonny - one step he does also is before turning he polishes the panel so old swirls do not show up

I sent my dash bezel to Randy for restoration, and when he shipped it back the USPS bent the crap out of it. Randy had me send it back and he was able to straighten it and make it look new again, no charge. He does great work and stands behind it.

If you want to see pictures, you can click on this link and got to post number 117, then read on from there.

Randy did mine a few years ago. It took many months. I sent it to him from the onset of my restoration so I wasn't in a big hurry. I think he is a school teacher and works on these on the side, more so in the summer. Def worth the wait though. Mine never showed up after he shipped it to me. I think my local post office screwed things up and there was no tracking no. on it. After several weeks of going to each of the 3 post offices within a few miles of my house it was a no go. Randy promptly sent me another. He is truly a stand up guy. The problem was neither his or mine but he made good on it.

Randy reached out to me yesterday after I posted on his Facebook page (thanks for heads up 71GP76TA). My bezel has been through the machine swirl process and it is going in the booth for gold tinting now.

Randy's work is worth waiting for. I had a bezel done by him a couple years ago. Some before, during and after pics.

Functional Shaker,

Yes, I cleaned up the black rings and cleared them, prior to putting everything back together.

I had him do the one in my '70. He does very nice work. But.. I can tell its a restoration and not a factory fresh piece,

were the black trim rings ever cleared?

I had thought they were left natural?

is that because it had too much clear?
