Quite the project!
Is that a lampshade on the roof? Or a sombrero?

Its probably not in too bad of shape metal-wise
But looks like its missing almost everything else.

Was it on eBay before , several years ago ?
There have been a few Orange 455-HO Formula projects in the last 8-10 years.

I may consider going to Mecum to see this. Be interesting to see how many people make it out due to Covid concerns

No, this car has not been on eBay, nor has it been for sale, and the current owner has owned it for a long time. It was sold new in Fremont CA and it's sitting a little over 100 miles away from there now. There was a similar car for sale in Texas on eBay a year or two ago, but I don't know of the other ones you reference.

That's a very nice color combo.

Bruce,

I posted that question about trim rings and then did a search and found the answer, that the car should not have had trim rings, so I deleted the question. I guess you saw and answered the question before I deleted it.

Looks like the S104 listing has been scrubbed from the site. How did you find the sale page?

Congrats to the new owner.
Such an incredible piece of perfected machinery .
I wonder if the same buyer bought both of the 72's

Great accomplishment for the seller
That was SUPER-SONIC
almost Bring-A-Trailer money !

Was also kind of curious about it disappearing from the Mecum site.
Last night I even checked the whole listing for all of Saturday - and its nowhere.
Maybe Dana Mecum bought it ?

I also checked through ALL the Pontiac results for the whole event.
Very high ratio of SOLD
Majority did well too.

If you go through it day by day for ALL CARS, there were a lot of cars during the week that went for good deals (on-the-cheap)
Even some higher caliber cars

Vettes and Camaros have really settled down.
Especially Vettes overall

20-30 years ago it would have been a Ridiculous JOKE to say a 77-78 Bandit type TA would bring more than a 1970 Camaro SS 396/375hp 4spd solid-lifter car.
That is basically their RamIV F-body
Several late 2nd gen TA's outbid the top dog 2nd gen Red Camaro SS

I was too. And when I refreshed to see that lot number, it was gone. Yeah, Dana probably bought it and it will pop up on his gallery section soon.

I was thinking the same thing but why remove it? Unless it was shill biding and sold for less.

I found the sold image. When you use the query function to look up lot numbers under results
it will show it. But when you click on the image it gives you the same “4040 Not found” alert.

I watched the auction of both the black HO and the blue 400 car. The black car bid up to 150K very quickly, then they beat on it for a while, but no one else bid on it, so the bid was closed. I timed the bidding at about 2:33 for that car. The blue car got bid up to 65K and it sold in approximately 1:12.

The black car car was later shown with a "Bid Goes On" banner, then a few hours later when I checked, it was gone and I never could find it on the Mecum site again.

I'm assuming the posted prices of $165K for the black car is the $150K selling price plus the 10% buyers fee, and the 71.5K price for the blue car was the same, 65K plus 10%.

I believe Mecum made a deal on it at 155 purchase price, and then sucked up some of the buyers premium
