New member with random 63 Safari questions
Hello, I just purchased my first big Pontiac, a 63 Bonneville Safari. It will be an on-going project, and I suspect this is the first of many question posts.
Details of my car from the trim tag - Paint - WWA-Nocturne Blue Trim - 279 ACC - Spec Buil 161. PHS shows 06B/C motor, 4-spd w/buckets and console. 8-lugs have been added somewhere along the line. I will start with these questions: 1. What is the correct color for the dash pad and metal top? It has a replacement from a red car. 2. Are the A-pillar garnish moldings (metal) specific to the wagon? The drivers side molding is missing. 3. The 4-speed shifter is not original and does not fit well. Are there other aftermarket options, or do I need to find an original? 4. Are the PUI bucket seat covers two-tone blue like the originals? Thanks in advance and I look forward to gaining much knowledge on this site! |

Metal moldings you are asking about are the same in any GM wagon 62-64 ...I think ...61 too maybe. Have to look at some references for your dash question. The shifter for a T 10 4 speed is not an aftermarket item that I know of ( correct me if wrong someone). Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Thanks for the welcome! I bought it from the SF Bay area, from a fellow named Charlie. I have seen your car in my forum searches and hope to have my interior up to your standard some day. Any advice on the seat covers?

Welcome to the class of '63 jamesq. That's an awesome find. Cool color and a stick too. Be sure to post as you progress. My Cat Safari is a power bench so the shifter is the longer, spaghetti shifter handle. Dennis at DME is the guy. Rebuilt my T-10 and helped with various other parts.

I'd be surprised if PUI had two tone interior seat covers. You may have to go through a company in Washington state, SMS Auto Fabrics. Not cheap but well known for quality and correctness.
