Default Pontiac Engine Builder in NC?

Hey guys,

I have a friend that will be looking to have either a stroker 400 or 455 built. He is near Asheville NC, is there any one around there besides Butler you would recommend?

Thanks

Just went through this for the RDU area...good luck. Seems like Butler might be the best/closest bet.

NASCAR doesn't race Pontiacs. Plenty of shops out here that can do a Chevy or Ford, but very few I'd trust to do a Pontiac engine. Once you shell out the cash, you might as well ensure it gets done right at a Butler-type shop.

Mike Trice in Newland, NC is a Pontiac racer guy that building engines and racing Pontiacs at Farmington, Bristol, Norwalk, etc. a few years ago. I haven't been in touch with him for a few years. Someone on this site may give you a phone number for him.

About an hour and a half from you in Anderson SC is Wayne Sless racing engines. He built mine and caster1’s engines. He will not be beat on product or price. Caster1 makes just shy of 600/600 on a combination that could be driven daily if you could afford to feed it. Just message him or me. We have tons of videos

Asheville is way out west in the Mountains near Tennessee border. fwiw
But Anderson SC is probably worth the trip.
Butler is likely a year or more on backlog.

A couple shops in Greensboro NC i could recommend.
About 4 hours from Asheville

Steve B. is probably about 6 hours from Asheville
It's a long state from west to east
about 8 hours from side to side.

Bett's Racing Engines just west of Salisbury, North Carolina. Also Dale Nichols Engineering in Gastonia.
From what I understand John Betts used to build engines for Nunzi.
