Thank you, so far i have weighed the following

radiator support = 38lbs
bumper brackets = 10lbs
crash brackets in the bumper = 26lbs

The new moly assembly is about 10lbs

I haven't had a chance to weigh the bumper and the valance yet, neither are very much once the crash stuff is out of the bumper. If i had to guess i'd say close to 20 lb difference from steel to glass for both. Probably 3 or 4 lbs difference between the original metal Luxury LeMans grilles and the standard plastic 72 grilles

Up next will be the radiator mount once the engine is set in, control arms, spindles, and rack.
Waiting on a few motor parts to show up and then the 400 will be ready to throw back together. I'm excited to see how it scales out, thinking I should be able to get to 100# or over once the suspension side of it is done.

Nice Adam!

I am about to start on my ‘72 GTO. Waiting on my ‘glass valence, fenders and doors. Already have the hood and bumper.

What size tubing did you use?

As I should have known, the list about doubled (Halotron-1 also in engine compartment, added GPS speedometer, A/F ratio gauge, etc.). Nevertheless most items checked off. And the bed liner actually fits in the GMC!

LTA entry done... just crossing fingers that the event occurs.

Thanks Dan, some 7/8 on the main tree and a mixture of 3/8, 5/8 and 3/4. We did a lot of it slip tube style

Had a chance to weigh a few more parts.

Stock LeMans chrome bumper - bumper only, no crash plates = 20.35 lbs
stock front valance w/o lenses = 8.35lbs
glasstek fiberglass bumper = 4.1 lbs
glasstek fiberglass valance w/ lenses = 4.5 lbs
glass bumper and valance saves right at 20lbs.

total weight savings so far with the bumper, valance, and tubular front support/mount is right at 83-85 lbs There will be a couple pounds added on when we do the radiator mount, so probably closer to 80 lbs in the real world.

Bummer... July event cancelled, so a long wait for the Loring Harvest event in October.

Hey Adam. Looks good.
How was that glasstek front bumper to work with? It looks like it fits closer to the body than the chrome one. Is it the same dimensions or did you trim it?

I’m curious about how much work you have into that to make it fit so nicely.

Good question, in those pictures, there was almost zero work in the bumper. All i had to do to pull it in tight was to slightly radius the back or the center part where it meets the header panel.
That being said, I fit that with the original luxury LeMans grilles

I removed those and installed the plastic standard LeMans grilles and the trim is orientated differently and the bumper was blocking the bottom chrome trim completely on the plastic grilles.. I had to cut all the mounting tubes, microscope and extend them to lower the grille enough to make the chrome on the bottom of the plastic grilles show. When i did that, it created a monster gap in the center at the header panel. I had to cut the bumper and section it to close the gap ( still working on it ). I was able to keep the two side fasteners in the original place but had to extend the front three about 3/4"-5/8"

Waiting on a few more motor parts and i'll get this pig together. Changed from the solid cam to a smaller duration, slightly bigger lift hyd roller. Stock 400 bottom end with .340@.600 eheads from Mike Leech. Not an optimal setup for performance, but for the bracket/index racing i do it works well because it mph's well for the e.t.s it runs.

It's been slow going on my end, but I have the rear end done and back in the car. We added the TRZ LCA brackets, cut down the uppers to accept the TZR spherical uppers, the lca support tube and a a couple little things like the tow loop and a fill bung. Adam at PRS freshened up my shocks, and I had Fuelab go through my pump and regualtor just to be safe. Next step will be welding in the ARB in the spring.
