Default early head stud conversion

....lookin for a stud conversion on a 63 ..421 head 543797...
some say its not possibble cause removing press in studs theres not enough meat for the srew instuds to install...so i dont know if theres a solution...what to do...some say helicoils but if theres not enough meat how should the helicoils then work...can someone give advice....thanks robert

Could you send some real nice pics of the stud area and the iron around them? I have not worked with those exact heads. Here are 3 possible options. Drill and pin the existing studs. Pull the studs and direct tap for 7/16" studs. If too thin, a solid die plug like a time cert could be used. But then you would need a conversion stud. It would be 3/8" on the bottom and 7/16" on the top. Not the greatest solution but would probably be OK up to around 200 PSI closed spring pressures.

Paul Spotts was selling stud conversion kits thru ebay if those would work.
