Torque on new vehicle and Baer caliper brackets
Did the brakes on my 2015 Silverado awhile back and the caliper brackets take almost 150 ftlbs!
I have a set of Baer PBR brakes I was trying to pull apart to ship easier and they have 9/16 Allen bolts AND red Loctite on them! One I can;t break loose even with a new 1/2" impact! Think of all the D52 calipers that use a 3/8 bolt to hold the calipers and the 100s of thousands of vehicles out there. We really need a 9/16 at 150 ft lbs!

Im sure you know this, but for loctite & rusted stuck bolts/nuts... use heat even from just a propane torch, Ive got almost every rusted or loctite bolt/nut free with a minute or so of a propane/map torch. Also many dont do this, but its best to heat the area the bolt goes into to or the nut being loosened, that expands the nut or boss the bolt goes in breaking free rust & allowing a little expansion for the nut or bolt to come out... loctite just needs heated to break its bond.
But yes, 150lb/ft is very tight for a brake caliper bracket/bolt. Good luck! |

What problem were they trying to solve? Sounds crazy.
Noted, thanks. |

Yup, 160 ft lbs and red loctite on my Wilwood calipers. They absolutely want nothing to do with those things coming apart.

Knowing that pads/rotors are a wear item it seems kind of crazy for that much bolt size and torque when you have to replace them.

If one were enterprising enough, i bet you could swap rotors with the calipers still in place as well.

The PBR style calipers you can't change pads without pulling caliper and for sure you can;t pull the rotor to either resurface or replace.
