1969 Firebird Project Car
This might be a little long, but I want to make sure I portray this car the best I can for what it is.
The previous owner before me purchased the car mid-to-late ‘80’s & had the engine rebuilt around 1994-95 by a machine shop in Northern New Jersey. Besides the engine, he had the trans rebuilt, he had the rear checked & installed new springs & hardware. His build at the time was just a stock rebuild with new bearings, rings, TRW pistons, stock rods, new oil pump & a mild cam (similar to a RAIII) installed. The engine is a 400 CID with 62 heads that were treated to a stock valve job with new valves. From what I can barely make out from the VIN stamped into the front of the block, it seems to be the original engine the car was born with in 1969 (See pics of block & VIN on dash). It has a Turbo 400 with a 3:08 open rear, Power brakes & steering. It was an A/C equipped car, but when I bought it came without the compressor and miscellaneous pieces for it. Somewhere while with the previous owner, the car was tapped in the rear so he had the right quarter panel replaced. I had plans to replace the left rear quarter so I bought a lower quarter without the sail panel, but never installed it. That goes with the car also. Except for the obvious front sheet metal and some of the interior pieces, I have everything I took off the car, plus some miscellaneous body bushings/handling/suspension parts the previous owner had for the car also. I also have some other miscellaneous N.O.S. and used parts I had from a previous 1969 T/A that I will include with this car. I bought the car in June of 1996. At the time the previous owner only put about 6000 miles on the engine. I trailered the car home, registered it and had in my house garage until I moved it into my new garage in 2005. Other than that I put no other mileage on the car. If remember correctly the car had just less than 80k on it, but since the speedo is out of the car I’ll have to try and locate the title with the mileage registered at the time. For now, don’t hold me to that 80k. When I get thru the bank box, I’ll update this post. The body obviously needs work, but for a North-East car, the floors and trunk are not bad. The car has some rust in the usual places in the wheel wells. I have not started the car since it was stored in my new garage in 2005, but the engine does turn over easy by hand. I’m looking to sell the car in the NY / NJ Tristate area if possible, but I will consider all offers. I WILL NOT SEPARATE ANY PARTS OFF THE CAR OR FROM ANY STOCK I HAVE. All the parts will go with whoever gets the car. I’m asking $3,900 or best offer and the buyer picks up the car & parts. Well. I'll be dipped! She wants a 68-72 Chevelle! Where did I go wrong? Then again, it could be: when the old man croaks, she'll have a 9 on top of a very-nice silver platter, and she wants to diversify what will be a portfolio.

About Time To Bump This Back Up For Spring
Looking for $2k.
My next step would be to remove the engine and trans and keep as a spare motor for my other car to go bracket racing on the cheap and then scrap the entire car for weight. One way or another.... this car is gone probably before mid-summer. |
