Now available 1974-77 Firebird/Trans Am Shoulder belt comfort clip!!
Now available from Ames Performance Engineering: GM Shoulder belt comfort clip. The comfort clip was used on all 1974-77 Firebird/Trans Am equipped with retractable shoulder belts. The sole feature of these rarely seen, factory installed clips was to retain a designated amount of slack in the belt, eliminating any unnecessary tension or chafing associated with non-adjustable shoulder belts of the era. These items are a great representation of the fine details that set your car apart from the rest of the field. Ames Performance part number A139H-retail $22.00/each and A139HB-retail $39.00/pair. For more information call 800-421-2637 or visit www.amesperf.com.

I'd like to order a set of these for my 74 - I have the original clear plastic parts (with the disclaimer on them) tucked away, but they are faded and worn. I never had the other white plastic parts that they clip to. The reproduction ones look nice.
Question about fitting them - do the belts need to come apart to put them on, or do they somehow work with the belts as they are?

They simply slide and snap together. Just make sure the belt isn't twisted. Less than 1 minute to install..

Could someone post a picture of the back of them so I can see how the white clips are supposed to be used? TIA

They are 99.9% EXACT to the NOS parts I have stashed away. This is a good reproduction of the original. It's hard to tell them apart. Nice thing about these is that the plastic isn't brittle, and they wont fall apart when trying to assemble them on the belt.

Awesome thank you!
Could I be a PITA and ask for a picture of the backside of one fitted to the belt? That's where I'm having trouble working them out i.e. how does the white plastic clip fit in (and where) once the clear plastic part is on the belt.. If they are supposed to end up like the first picture you posted, how do you get them under the clear plastic clips once they are on the belt?

You slip the clear clip on to the belt, then turn the clip over to expose the backside of the clip. Simply pry up on one of the ears of the clip with your finger, slide the white tensioner with the smooth side of the tensioner contacting the seat belt under the clear ear, and repeat the same action for the other ear. The white tensioner will snap into place.

Actually these would be great to use on the 1997 to 2002 F-bodies with those @$#%34 shoulder belts that ride up on your neck due to the plastic hoop on the headrest.
