Default Throwback Thursday, PY style

Here are a few pictures, one that you don't see everyday.
Jimmy (JK) Wrights 69 TA Collection.
That is four real 69 TA's, 2-RAIII's 2- RAIV's, and a real 69 GTO RAIV.
The picture at the track, the TA went 10.99 with a 462 and RAIV heads, hyd cam, doug nash intake and a Q-jet. Drove it to the track, swapped on the slicks went 10.99, then drove it home back in 1979. JK Was way ahead of his time.
His Blue 74 Pro Street TA and 69 TA at the Year One tent both had 6/71 blowers, the 69 also had a doug nash 5 speed.
You can just make out my Brewster green 73 TA in the driveway.
Just thought I'd share.

I live in Lexington and remember JK cruisin Southland drive in the TA with the blower. He has helped me tons with my TA's. He is retired but hangs out at Firebird Central in Richmond Ky and still has a Ram Air III TA 4speed with stacked gauges. You can see his car in the advertisement that Shawn runs in HPP and other mags. The first TA I bought he came up with a picture of it sitting with his RA IV TA in 1978. I find it I'll post it. GREAT Guy!

Big Moe, please post the picture.

I lived in Lexington from 1970 to 1994, JK was one of my best friends.
If you remember him from southland Dr, you probably have seen me too. I would drive over most weekends in the late 70's to the mid 80's. (All though the SSDA days, if you remember that). I had the Gold 78 TA with the black shaker.

SSDA, now you are bringing back some memories! Drag racing on Harrodsburg Rd. I think Jimmy Wright had every set of those wheels in the last pic. If you saw a car in Lexington with those wheels you knew it was his. David, those were good times when you lived here. I remember you dusting Greg Case on Winchester Rd. More pics please.

Harrodsburg Rd was a blast. Do you remember the night that Geno Kerney raced the Police officer, on duty in his patrol car? can't do that stuff now.

It was a good time and place to be into cars.

OK, here's the way I remember it, 34 years later. Sitting on Harrodsburg Rd. Late at night matching up races. A cop pulls up in his Aspen/Volare, can't remember which. Asks for the fastest car there. I guess fleet services had put some exhaust on it for him and he was feeling bad. Geno had bought an '80 Z 4 speed and taken it straight to the local small block guru for an upgrade. The car ran real good, so we nominated him. Cop said OK, but if another cop was to come by act like racer cop was puling you over. Needless to say Geno dusted him. However, 2 weeks later another cop came by in his 383 duster and beat quite a few of us. Hey, it was no Woodward Ave., but it was fun.

That's pretty close to what I remember as well.

My version is: We had been run out of several parking lots on southland Dr, for various reasons. But one of the officers was new to town, he was an officer from Chicago and could actually interact with people on the street.
He found us on Harrodsburg Rd and would hang out from time to time. Geno being the friendly guy made friends with him kept challenging him to a race, finally he accepted and as you said, Gino took good care of him. I wasn't there when they raced the other officer.

Gino drove over to my house after having the intake, cam and headers installed looking for a race. He asked to go from a roll on Winchester rd and got me by a car.

Later he had JK install the 5 speed in his 81 Z, that was the 5 speed that JK had in his 69 TA a year later.

You're right, no Woodward ave, but a lot of fun for the times.
