Default What is this piece of sonething

I was cleaning/scrubbing around the steering box area and this small black foam square fell out to the floor, about maybe 3" x 5". Is this anything important? Will get a pic shortly

There’s no foam of any kind around the steering box, but there is a rubber mud flap hanging off the wheel well that’s used to cover most of the gap between the upper control arm and the wheel well.

The other possibility is that it came off of the air sealing material around the radiator.

Looks like the pre-vulcanization form of the material that is pressed into a McGanzer Flange gasket.

There you go again. LOL. It doesn't look like anything to me. Could be anything picked up on the road, maybe someone put it there.

Seriously .. not knowing the history or usage of the vehicle ... I'd guess at some point that piece was either a slightly sticky piece of debri on the road that got tossed up, or perhaps a previous owner stuffed it somewhere to separate two components (hoses, lines etc), prevent a rattle etc.

I think that is a muffler bearing that went flat?
Or the watchucallit valve that lost its air?

Those gaskets not avail anymore, because the diluvian carbonic expresser foam equipment was banned for causing blackened hand, arm and eye socket.

Based on the material color and texture, I'd say it's a piece of cork insulation tape that found it's way into a crevice.

I would guess it's a piece of insulation from the firewall

Not sure what car that's from but looks like it could be a long lost air cleaner vent PVC breather filter...
