A restored, numbers, black car with an odd combo green interior, for good money.

Green slate interior. Who writes that nonsense?

Yep, I mentioned that one in the 68 RA I thread below. I looked at it close, thought the interior color choice was interesting but a neat car and nicely done. Didn't bring the money I thought it would.
Makes me wonder what the 69 RAIII auto Judge convertible will bring with it's triple green colors. |

It would have probably brought 50% more if it had a 4 speed.

Might have made a slight difference but from what I saw there over the weekend, there were quite a few automatic big money cars selling in the Chevy, Ford and Chrysler camp. Seemed to me the Pontiacs weren't quite as strong this year and not as well represented.

I'd drive it.

You can bet I would too. For $51k or what ever it was that it sold for, I thought it was a great buy for a real documented RAIV car, and with 4.33's too

Agreed - a deal for the lucky buyer.

Looks like a hell of a deal for a RA IV car and it's a beauty! 4.33's might be a little rough on a road trip and trust me that odd colored interior would grow on you once you started driving it.

That odd color interior I'll say it was very difficult to tell it was even green under the lighting that was in the tent.
I know I'm getting old and my eye's aren't what they used to be but I had to get my face within inches of the seat and I could still barely tell it had a hint of green. Standing right next to it (at least in the tent) it just looked like black interior. Only reason I even noticed was the sign description saying it had green interior. Standing in front of the car it looked black. Standing by the door it still looked black. Inches away I finally saw some green, lol. Maybe outside in the sunlight it may have been a different story. Doesn't bother me though, I like green. Very popular color back then but seldom seen now, it's different. |

Found a couple of pictures of the car from around 2004 when it was in the Niagara Falls Ont. area. It was at a Pontiac dealer sponsored show and was parked in the show room with a RAIV Judge and the dealers TA. Thought it was cool having two RA IV 69s in the showroom.

I don't like most greens but that is so odd, I could live with it

My 69 GTO is expresso brown with a dark green interior and a dark green vinyl top and redline tires. It was ordered with a tone of options including a 4.33 rear axle. I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like it.

I have a 69 Bonneville Brougham with that same Expresso and green guts combo (in this case with a black Cordova top). I joke that it looks better with the doors shut and the windows up! There is a green tint to Expresso Brown so it's not that bad in person.
Back to that BJ IV car, a funny co-incidence is that the same selling dealer in BC also sold another 69 RAIV GTO with automatic and it was Expresso Brown with green interior. I spoke to the original owner back in the late 80's and he told me he bought the car new in the fall of 1970 when the 71's had come out and the dealer had painted it Midnight Green and heavily discounted it to finally get rid of it.

I love these cars when they are kept to their original build specs per the factory and build sheet. It's easy to appreciate the hard work that went into those cars since we all know how hard it is to keep them in that order.
As for the colors? Take a look at the plastic crapastic dull colors cars look like today. Everything is a dull bland color that looks like a Honda Accord. I love these cars and would never turn down a RAIV in any car in any color combo.
