Cool 1969 PONTIAC CHAIN GANG

This was sent to me the other day and I have to say I don't recall ever seeing it before.
Anyhow I thought it was a cool old ad worth re-visiting.

Cool

Why that's horrendous, despicable, intolerable, and a totally unacceptable commercial by Pontiac's add department, just doesn't get any better!

Thanx Jeff !

Thanks for sharing. Good to see a burgundy ‘69 GTO Convertible with hideaways on the back of the train. Just like mine. Very cool!

I’ve seen better definition versions of that ad. The GTO is Matador red, it’s the same car seen in the hi-Po brochure and many factory promo photos etc. It’s missing some of the chrome trim above the rear bumper. No indication of ram air though.

Btw, the second prisoner to speak is a character actor best known for playing “ice pick” on Magnum P.I.

How does the grille look in other ad material?

In the brochure it’s silver but I think it’s silver in this video, just lighting. By the tailpipes it’s automatic. In the brochure you can see that it has deluxe red front shoulder belts but no soft ray glass.

How can you tell it's an automatic by the tailpipes?

Automatic cars have 2” tips with resonators but manuals have 2 1/4” without resonators

Oh, that's interesting. And they're easy to discern visually?

The resonators are visible, quite close to the outlet tip.
