I seem to remember someone posting on here years back about VW going to the torsional /necked down head bolts on some of their diesel engines to enable them to hold a head gasket, apparently it worked very well.

So I put a temp gun on a stud after cutting........no big deal raised it to 120 or so, temp dissipates quickly so may not be a perfect temp reading.

They used to have terrible problems with standard type head bolts. Once they went to torque to yield bolts the issue was solved for the most part.
I hve a buddy who is a big VW guy and knows it in and out.
I have yet to hear about those style of bolts in a American performance engine. But even NA diesels have a lot of cylinder pressure and they use them on their turbo diesels too and they work.

Maybe it’s time to think outside the box.....I do and obviously it works!
