Gloss black?
Refinishing the plenum blower case on my ‘66 GTO. This is the part mounted on the firewall that blower motor mounts to on cars with a/c. Seems like most of these I’ve seen on restored cars were painted gloss black, but is that correct?

The unrestored A/C box on my '66 is more of a satin like the other factory black finishes under the hood. I don't think gloss was used anywhere underhood, but I'll defer to the other experts here.

Gloss black
Chris, thanks for the definitive answer on this. The photos are most helpful. I got lazy and didn’t check my Restoration Guide like I should have. I’ve learned over many years that it is not 100% accurate, but a great source of detailed info. By the way, did you own a Reef Turquoise ‘66 with Parchment interior many years ago? Sorry if I’ve asked you this before.

Hi Terry,
True, the “Resto Guide” is not 100% correct, but what is. I still think it’s one of the Best resources for the GTO that’s ever been published. The authors did a fantastic job putting that book together. I did own a 66 Reef Turquoise with Black interior from about 1977-1984. It was used by Revell for their cover art on this 1/25 scale model.
