Default Carburetor for slalom/time attack racing?

So I took my 81 T/A out racing yesterday to do time attack (slalom racing) through a cone obstacle course with high speed and very sharp/hard corners. My Holley 770 Street Avenger, which works well for straight acceleration driving and normal driving certainly struggled yesterday. With that said, would I be better off going with a Holley 500 or 650 2bbl carb for such adventures?

You would be far better off with a Q-jet and it's one centralized fuel bowl and its plastic sloush cover.

Installing floats with a wedge on each side will help. Quick Fuel pn16-55 or something like that. The floats will help with the right and left turns.

Quick Fuel 59-10 vent baffles will help with hard braking and acceleration.

Mechanical secondary carbs usually work better for that style of racing. If you have a vacuum operated secondary carb a lighter spring will should help.

Qjet will not work with his current intake T-2

Thank you Gentlemen,

I was also thinking and perhaps overthinking but would a Holley 6425 650 2bbl carb be a good/better choice or perhaps a off-road carb like a Holley 770 Truck Avenger?

I would keep it simple and try a Holley 650 4777.

Give me the full specs on your current setup if you don't mind.
I have successfully built, tuned and campaigned carbs from Holley, Braswell and Bolaws in situations with over 3 sustained lateral G's and changes in direction of over 6.
It can be done with what you have

I'm so sorry, I just saw this

Thank you for asking, I just finished rebuilding my Holley 770 Ultra Street Avenger carb and while at it, I installed trapezoid road race floats, spring loaded (off road) needle and seats as well as the off road vent tube. While waiting for those parts to come from Allstate Carburetor, I went ahead and dropped the tank and flushed it (cleaner than expected) and replaced the pick-up/sending unit.

At them moment I have a 625 Street Demon carb on it but I will be taking the 770 with me tomorrow as well to see how it does. I think the 625 is going to be a little small but I had a pair of them for 2x4 on the 78 T/A before I went to nitrous for the Street Outlaws heads up series here. If neither of these work, I'll order more parts and rebuild the 4777 650 DP I have.
