roof cross brace
does this look right kinda flat or is it bent down and should be curved up tight to
roof |

so I decided it is bent. I will either cut it at 4 points and straighten then reinstall or remove spot welds at 4 points straighten and reinstall or cut where I found the bend to be the worse then raise it and reweld. thoughts? roof seems to be fine. some bozo must got on there to watch the stars or something and pushed it down the roof went back up the brace stayed down

My '65 was worse than that - one of the previous owners must have shagged a beluga whale up there. I did what you are proposing and it worked well.

Try a bottle jack put an extension on it. Block it up squarely from the floor.Jack it back into place. You may need to put bracing under the floor to the ground so as not to bend the floor , but give it a gentle try first
You can lift a beluga whale with one.LOL |

Mine is similar. I was wondering does the brace go metal to metal with the roof or was there a deadening
material that went in there. |

Deadening material goes in there.... expanding body foam or something like that.

Yes. Does NOT GO FLUSH to the roof .
Leave about 1/4 inch. My 64 was in that area.Ijust recently finished a headliner, so I got to stare at the crossbrace for a little while. I also put sound deadening material on the inner skin of the roof.Its OK to stuff the edge under the brace as it will keep it from rattling. |

I found a slight kink and cut just the ribbed part at that point which allowed it to bend up but still needs more help. I could use a picture as I don't know what its supposed to look like. is there a slight flat in the center or continuous curve about 1\8 inch down form roof

Fixed it today by slicing it 7 times theough the ribs only. Then bracing it up to roof, welding cuts back together. it worked real well. With its arch back its stong again.
