Question A/C Heater Control Vacuum Question

I have read through all the threads on a/c heater control switches and vacuum lines - some great information that is very helpful. I have a question about the control port (not the rubber block) on the selector assembly. Do those fail and is there a replacement available. I have individually tested all the actuators on the inside and outside and they all operate correctly. I tried testing them all connected to the control port by selecting each position and checking the actuator for movement with a vacuum applied but not of them worked or held a vacuum. I read something in a couple threads about adding a drop or two of oil to the felt pad - I'll try that. I'd like to verify that the control port works before putting all the other stuff back in under that dash.
