Dont ask me how, but I found the problem. Yes, I did have both ends of the intermediate disconnected, but started with process of elimination on the fuel gauge and license lamp, so I plugged the front back in.
The license plate light wire had a cut and was touching the part of the bumper bracket.
Everything is working OK now.

That will do it...:-)

Now I will miss these updates...it was becoming sort of my "Sopranos" series I would check into daily to see what happened next....

Glad you found your culprit...I know how frustrating it can be.

Yes, A tremendous wt off my shoulders. This car has really played on my emotions, but now I love it all over again.
