Why did this project die?

Is there any life left in this project ?
The projected price was good.

Koch gets $600 to recast your old wheel from 1964-1968 , talked to them this morning.
I believe that only gets you done in Black.
They can do a half clear wheel , and probably full clear.

Well since some years back Performance Years sold their retail restoration parts business to Ames Performance I’m doubtful that they’re pursuing any new products, even half developed ones.

Not trying to speak for them but that’s my take.

Probably right about that.
However CC did say that leaving the retail side would allow him to be more engaged in their other role of producing parts , when he announced the closure of PY .

As far as 65-68 model cars - dollar wise its more practical to upgrade to a new wood wheel than to have an old plastic wheel recast by Koch.

You have a good memory! And we have made a boat load of new products over the past 9 years. We made the spokes and the center cap for this. The wheel project has been very disappointing to not pull off. We just couldn't find anyone who gave us the confidence they could do the wheel correctly.

Now 9 years later, although the overall muscle car industry is doing well, much fewer cars are being restored and a major project like this could take years just to break even.

That is a shame. I have near perfect 67 wheel that I bought and stored away about 20 years ago.

Thanks for giving us the final word on this wheel deal.
And thanks for being able to bring all the other nice steering wheels to the market.
