Default Repop Dust Caps

Has anyone purchased the correct looking caps sold by cssbinc? I'm wondering if they fit our cars okay?

These are good for the rally wheel hub locks, I have tried them on cars I have done the center cap lock mods on. That said originals had a rounded top , not a flat spot.

I just did my front brakes recently. As I recall the original had a wavy front lip where it mates to the hub so you could stick a screwdriver under there to pry it up. And yes, as Bruce says ours should have a rounded top.

They changed these caps a few times over the years. The ones with the wavy edges are a newer supercede part number. Part number 6274217

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-GM-OEM-7...FUhwkb&vxp=mtr

The 1970-71 caps had a straight edge where they meet the rotor.

Here's a picture of two originals on the right, two NOS in the middle and two repros from Corvette Specialties on the left. I think the repros here compare very favorably to the others. The top of all of them is not perfectly rounded, but not flat, either. They sort of reach a first apex coming up the sides and then slightly less rounded from there to the peak.

I just picked up these nOS beauties for $16 shipped.

They will be cleaned, satin clear coated, and installed on my '77.

The 6274217 was definitely used from the factory on my '76 LeMans, as well as my '77 Trans Am and every Can Am I've owned. I will check my '73 Grand Am to see if it used that style.

The 217 superseded the 3984810. So the 217 while the correct replacement is different in design than the part it superseded

Some time in the 72 run must have been the switchover point.
I ordered a couple from CS.

OK, enough about dust caps. I want to hear some chatter about your valve stems and lug nuts.

The 217 caps were used in '73.

I'm here to please. Broke out these NOS valve stem caps for the BIG show in Dayton this weekend, I think they will put my car over the top.

Man, those are nice. Will you take those off at night so nobody steals them?
