I go there. Seems rather dead to me. But then, I suppose it depends on the section you are in.

Perhaps the dissemination of pontiac knowledge here has been so successful that we are well into the point of diminishing returns. ;-)

Checked it out, not a fan. Just sayin. Prefer this forum. Curious of daily post count, doesn’t seem crazy high when I click new. Quality of info is what counts, hands down better here, imo. Not knocking peeps who choose to go there.

OK, these are just my own personal opinions. So, if anybody here don't like 'em, that's fine with me. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions.

(1) There has always been some very good info here, tho sometimes you have to weed it out a bit.

(2) IMO, there has been FAR too much bickering, arguing, & trashing of others opinions. Some of the cam choice threads are prime examples.

(3) The heads-up racers who post in the race section seem to have one of those "I'm better than you", "My car is faster than yours", "Your junk is trash", "Your opinion is wrong", attitudes.

(4) MOST here seem to look down their nose at low budget guys who can only afford a slow car, by today's standards. Many seem to think that a 12 sec bracket car is not even a real race car, even if it's won lots of races. Many seem to have the attitude that if a guy can't run quicker than 12's, he shouldn't even take it to the track.

(5) Lots of guys seem to always trash the design of the Pontiac V8 block, & proceed to talk about how much better other designs are, & why an engine using the Pontiac design will never be any good, & how much better the BBC or LS design engines are.

My opinion on that is: If a Pontiac design engine won't make enuff power for you, run something else & talk about how great it is on some other forum. I've read that the TF & Funny cars are making somewhere around 10,000 hp. So, unless your engine can make 10,000 hp, I suppose you're "leaving some on the table", if you're not running the same type engine they're running. That makes just as much sense to me as trashing the Pontiac V8 design on a Pontiac forum.

Yeah, we all have opinions, don't we ?

(6) The OP ask about other Pontiac forums. Pontiac Street Performance just started a new forum. It has had some minor start-up problems, but seems to be running pretty good now. I got crossways of the Pontiac engine building guru & his devoted followers, on the old forum & was asked to leave, twice.

But, the forum owner recently told me of the new forum & invited me to join, which I did. I'm gonna try to just post in the race section there & stay out of the street cam threads.

I was posting on the GTO forum. But they "fixed" it, with a completely new design, which I found hard to negotiate. So, I've let "Pontiac Jim" answer all the questions over there.

Was posting a lot on the Firebird Nation forum. It was pretty active. Now there seems to be very little activity there. I only check in there, occasionally.

The Trans Am Country site also seems to have lost most of the volume it had. But I still go there sometimes.

There are several Pontiac FB pages. I know that many guys here hate FB. But for those who don't, there are several pages I like. You just have to filter out a lot of bad info.

I mostly post class racer info on the Pontiac Drag Racer page.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/pontiacdragracers/

Also post Pontiac class racer wins on the Pontiacs Online page.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/pontiacsonline/

There are lots of smaller pages. Paul Carter started a page.

I really like the page that has lots of pics of old Pontiac drag cars.

I suppose the cost of restoring an old Pontiac, along with the scarcity of good solid bodies, has really reduced the number of guys restoring Pontiacs. That, probably more than anything else, is the reason all the Pontiac sites have less traffic. Also, the real Pontiac guys are getting older. The younger guys want later model cars,, they can relate to. Us old guys who were teenagers when the GTO & Firebird came along are of a different generation, with different ideas about cars.

Also, some of us old guys don't have enuff savings & income to support a car habit. It's not as much fun talkin about cars, if you can't afford one of your own.

WOW!

While your synopsis of this place is spot on, judging by your time on all those forums, you don't seem to have enough time in your day to work on a car.

Well, if I had plenty of play money, I'd very seldom ever even look at most forums. I'd be busy going to races & keepin up all the necessary racing equipment.

But, unfortunately, I don't really have enuff income to even HAVE a race car, much less actually take it to a race. That takes most of the fun out of workin on it, especially in this Louisiana summer heat.

So, talkin about other Pontiac racers & cars, online, is about the best I can do, right now.
