70 gto PHS axle question
just got back the pHs on a 70 gto i bought and was wondering what special order axle number 362 on order list means? its a 323 ratio car as it has air and thats whats circled on phs,it has a 323 posi in it now and correct build date rear but cant make out 2 letter code,if the phs doesnt list posi then that means it was orig open is that correct?could that be part of the special order axle? thanks.

Assume your car is a 400CI 4 Bbl, 330 HP, automatic? The specs for your car when you ordered A/C, came factory equipped with 3.08 gearing. So having the 3.23 gear on your car would be special order.
However, the 350HP 400CI shows 3.23 as standard gearing with A/C. Hope that helps. |

PHS would show 361 (G80) if Safe-T-Track was ordered.
Your car may have been ordered with 3.08 gears, thus the 362, and previous owner was not aware of this and had 3.23 gears installed? Only the PO, stamped code on axle tube or the original build sheet column 29 will tell the truth. |
